Do I have to sign up to accept Shop Louisa Bucks?
Absolutely not. Just accept them as you would cash or checks. You may want to post our “Shop Louisa Bucks Accepted Here” sign available by contacting the LDG office at 319-527-5182 or at ldg@louisacomm.net.
I’m still confused. Exactly how will these ‘bucks’ work?
Shop Louisa Bucks are actual legal checks drawn on a dedicated account at the State Bank of Wapello. Because the checks are paid for in advance, the funds are guaranteed. You simply deposit the checks in to your regular bank account. They will clear like normal checks.
Will the certificates have an expiration date?
Yes, this round of Shop Louisa Bucks will expire on April 1, 2009. As a merchant, you should not except payment with an expired date. HOWEVER, SHOP Louisa Bucks are offered year round. Generally, they expire 90 days after they are bought from State Bank of Wapello.
Where can the Shop Louisa Bucks be purchased?
We hope to make them available for sale at all 6 Louisa County banks. They will also be available directly from Louisa Development Group. In addition, we encourage merchants to offer them for sale. Are the certificates redeemable for cash?
No. Only merchants can redeem the bucks in their regular checking accounts. You may, however, offer change to purchases under $5. The bucks clearly state that they are NOT REDEEMABLE FOR CASH.
What’s this thing about offering special discounts to Shop Louisa Bucks customers?
As these bucks circulate, it is to your advantage to recruit their redemption in your place of business. It not only encourages shopping locally, but also shopping locally IN YOUR BUSINESS!
Can I purchase these for my employees as gifts?
Absolutely. Just contact LDG. There is no additional charge to buy Shop Louisa Bucks. They are sold at face value in $5 denominations.
What do Shop Louisa Bucks look like?
They look similar to a regular check. An example is pictured on the opening page.
Can I use Shop Louisa Bucks as gift certificates for my store only?
You may. In the “Pay to the order of” line, simply insert your business’ name. You may also give them to your best clients as a token of appreciation for their patronage.
